The Department of Education Division of Calamba City and the Arts Research and Training Institute in Southern Tagalog Inc (ARTIST Inc) in cooperation with the Jose Rizal Memorial School will present a theatre production entitled Sina Marya at si Kiling in December 8, 2011, 3pm and 5pm at the Chipeco Hall, JRMS Central 1, Calamba City, Laguna. 200 special children aged 7-16 years old are performing and showcasing their creativity and the rights of the children.
Si Marya at si Kiling is a re-invented story of the legend of Mount Makiling highlighting children's rights. In this play, the origin of the shape of Mt Makiling is seen as a fusion of two children characters. (The play won 2nd place in 2005 Don Carlos Palanca Memorial Awards for Literature Full-length Play Category). Penned and directed by Edward Perez, the production is given life through the music scored by Ricamela Palis and the movements choreographed by Myla Perez and Exequiel Magcase.
